This is gonna be super cliché but look at your feet; if possible, take off your shoes. Feel the ground beneath you. Think about where you are now and where you've been and where you want to go. Think about the miles you've ran and the places you've been and the concerts you've seen and the puddles jumped in. Think about the stories you've heard and the lives you changed and the prints you've left beneath your tread. Now think about the people who were with as you encountered these experiences, the ones who hugged you or cheered you on and made you laugh until you cry and how their stories have become a part of yours.
I
donated some pairs of my old shoes to a local charity bank and I
thought about this. How I'm sharing something that was a pair of my
everyday life with someone else. you're probably thinking “Oh,
what's a old pair of Chucks or a disgruntled pair of Vans got to do
with anything?” Well, it's about giving. Sharing. Helping. In the
words of our South African friends, “Ubuntu: I am
what I am because of who we all are.”
