"When Moses' hands
grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it.
Aaron & Hur held his hands up--one on one side, one on the
other--so that his hands remained steady till sunset." - Exodus
17:12
Think about where you've
been in the past year. Think about the people you met and the lives
you've changed and the journeys you've seen & experienced. Think
about how you felt a year ago. What was your biggest worry? Your
biggest fear? Where did you want to be? Who helped you get
there? Everyone has a story. And everyone we meet becomes a
character. Some monsters, some heros, some dragons & wizards. But
in every story there's a dynamic character or a catalyst. A
character that changes or causes change.
Oftentimes, I think about
the people I've encountered & the lives I've seen change. I think
about my brothers & friends and even the strangers in passing who
have yet to become friends & my personal mission to be a fortress
during a heavy storm, a lighthouse to someone lost at sea.
One of the biggest
mantras I live by is "always be kinder that necessary, for
everyone you meet is fighting a great battle." So never miss the
opportunity to pass out a handshake or a hug. Buy a stranger a cup of
coffee. Be a listening ear. A shoulder to cry on. A brother. A
friend.
"A man who has friends must show himself friendly, but there
is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." - Proverbs 18:24
